Steve, that boat is indeed the ex Hancock(and whoever else drove it) colour scheme....a good friend of mine, Garry Bassett used to observe in it, as did I whilst on the Goldy in 81/82....it had the speed record sign written on the front. I also observed for peter frazier towing Wayne Richie, and remember vividly the rare call down as we passed AQUAHOLIC at the time...a very fast boat, as was peter's next boat GETTING SERIOUS ( light white 1750 with a short trunk merc)....it was previously run in the NSW series

You too have a good memory.......powerboat mag and that wonderful dog reporter seems so long ago as to be in another life.....I still have baron , it is in pristine condition, not a gel coat crack, not a mark around the transom, and has not done much waterborne activity in all those years....I still have an assortment of props from 26 to 30 inch sizes.....the derakane and Kevlar drop floor centered steering bullet 1750 still looks like new and with moc yamaha handles like dream.....too bad I never get to use it....
Now who are you guys behind the usernames?

Dave, what is your present boat/motor combo???? Obviously good enough to win 2010 SMOC....was that in Vic or Aussi Titles????......and at what venue in what conditions??? prop was a ???? inch and made by ???????
I will turn up to a more local race (to melbourne) one day and check it out!!!! Love the SMOC class boats and i am guessing with a lot more CC's they are a lot faster than way back in time!!!!!

Yep my boat is an 1800 Bullet Kevlar drop floor with a 2010 Mercury 250xs. 30" Lightening ET on a 1.75-1 gear ratio
I have owned it since new in 1994 and have raced it in ski, offshore, drag & circuit racing with varying success.
Here are a couple of pix
