Dear Boat race followers and supporters,
The Archer Eade Memorial Race Review.
When: Sunday March 16th
Where: Lake Charm Round, Kerang. Vic.
Hosted by: The Victorian Outboard Club
The weather was a little on the fresh side as it was a cool 20 degrees but the boats that turned out soon put the heat on for all of us to watch. There were about 25 boats in all at this round with most being the outboards; but it was great to see the hydros and inboards show up and be apart of this great weekend; for this is a race weekend for all boat racers not just the outboards, so we thank those inboards & hydros that participated.
Lake Charm is a 3 hour drive from Melbourne that is basically 30 min south of Swan Hill, held on what is a natural underground artesian water way. The spectator area is within a caravan park, the boat ramp is one of the best, amenities are close and the spectator area is grassy and one of the best. This place is great for boat racing.
We had the usual mix of classes with representation from the outboard club with a 25hp, 1800`s, 2 litre, F2 & F1 outboards. While the displacement boats consisted of a great 4.2 lire contingent , along with Daryl Heath show casing his new capsuled boat. We also had some 1.6 litre hydro`s and an Unlimited GP in, Dragula.
The racing was exceptional while water conditions ended a bit blustery; but it was safe racing and no accidents were reported while the event was well run and officiated.
This round is also the fundraiser for the Victorian Outboard Club`s charity SIDS. The Saturday evening consisted of a BBQ with our Chef , Mr. Paul Eade in charge of the carvery, with Mr. John Cooper running the raffles while the auction was MC`ed by Dave Bishop. It was an awesome night with great food, raffles and auctions on some great prizes aplenty. I believe about $10,000 was raised for SIDS. So a huge pat on the back for all those who attended and we would like to sincerely thank all those that donated and all those that bought tickets or bid on the auctions. We also wish to thank all our VOC series sponsors for without you we cannot do our race meets to fundraise or race.
The Archer Eade memorial was won by Paul Eade.
All other results will be posted soon.
Once again thank you to all those that supported this weekend of boat racing and we hope to see you at 2015 at the Archer Eade Memorial.
